Day Twenty-Nine, Time to Shine!

Wow... you all must have been hitting the refresh button HARD... I'm almost to 1,000 page views! Which means I'll be posting all about this special giveaway tomorrow. I can't wait!

To tide everyone over, here are the earrings of the day:

Trusty old teacup~! This one probably shows off the color best...

But THIS photograph probably best shows off the marbleized detailing in the agate.

The color of the square agate is actually more of a deep purple, and the round agate is more of a bright pink/magenta.

So as you may have surmised through my comments under the photos, this pair was made with two tones of agate-- pink on the top, and purple on the bottom. Both of them have a marbleized effect; the pink sphere has undertones of red and purple, and the purple square has accents of tan and deeper purple.

I'm hoping to get to do a great deal of artwork tomorrow-- earrings and jewelry and clay and resin, oh my! And most importantly, I will almost assuredly be posting all about a special giveaway tomorrow. Keep your eyes and ears peeled~ as I frequently say, stolen from a favorite show of mine~ same Bat Time, same Bat Channel~!

Day Seven and the "Green Machine" Set!

... Did anyone else find the Top Chef reunion special as amusing as I did? 

Anyway, I can't believe it's been a full week of making earrings! Every day that I do this, it gets easier and easier... today's project matches a necklace,designed a while back, and actually sold at market three weeks ago! It got a lot of attention, and sold the very first day it was on the table, so I made it again-- this time with a pair of earrings to match!

I like to think of this set as "The Green Machine"!

These earrings contain two stones-- bright green agate, marbleized with darker tones of green and shades of brown, and round green jade. Large enough to make a statement, small enough to not make *too* large of a statement. They were made to match this specific necklace, which has a large "yellow" turquoise stone as the center focal. Yellow "turquoise" always intrigues me, since it comes in a wide array of colors, not all of which are actually yellow! Despite being part of a matched set, these earrings also coordinate with other pieces:

If these earrings were students, they would be rated positively for "plays well with others"~!

I like to "test" my earrings out whenever possible, to make sure they stay put. These are the same earrings, with a different necklace from my jewelry collection, out and about in their public debut. Don't they look lovely? I like the earrings, but Hubby would say that he thinks their model is much prettier.

Anyway, these earrings passed muster... they were worn to Hubby's church, for a Lent reflection/bible study/prayer group/dinner party. All in all, a successful evening!

Day Seven-- VICTORY!!!

Earring Challenge, Day Five!

I'm up to "Day Five" of my personal earring challenge, as well as the blog-post-a-day challenge~ for those of you who don't know, I'm doing one blog post per day, and I'm making at least one pair of earrings each day, all March long.

In exciting news, Hubby picked up some ultra-thin head pins from our metalwork shop, on his way home from work. I know that this is the "lazy man's" way of making jewelry, but when you're not feeling great, it's the difference between being able to complete a project and not doing anything at all.

And I think the finished product speaks for itself~

Sterling silver ear wires hold up semi-precious stones for a classic look that is as versatile as it is stunning! Large onyx stones, in the shape of a rectangle, flanked by two round stones. One is a blue agate, solidly colored but marbleized with veins of green; the other is a translucent quartz, faceted to highlight the beauty of the stone.















 A perfect pair~ one that goes as well well with jeans and a tee-shirt as it does with that "little black dress" that every woman has in her closet. Or, as in my case, that "little blue dress" that is just the perfect shade to brighten up a cloudy day!










 Earrings that can be worn to any location that your heels or ballet flats or sneakers can take you. Earrings that look just as lovely at a picnic, as they do at a wedding reception. The kind of earrings that you cherish and treasure.

Alright, I'm done with the poetry for now~ I have to say, I'm going to be quite upset when these babies go up for sale...
